Carl Chambers, age 63 was called home Wednesday- Aug 1, 2012 in Tampa, FL. Carl was born on July 17th, 1949 in Phenix City, Alabama. He was raised by Mother Evelyn and Father Jimmie Lee Chambers in Mount Clemens, Michigan where he attended Mount Clemens High School. Carl lived in various places of the US such as California, Virginia, and Georgia working in construction and security. His greatest dedication in life was to sobriety, where he was an inspiration to many with his involvement in the NA program mentoring/sponsoring recovering addicts in battling addiction. Carl was known for his raw sense of humor and no nonsense personality, but even with a tough exterior he was also loved for his big heart and compassion for others, he was always there for family and friends whenever needed.
Carl is preceded in death by: Evelyn & Jimmie Lee Chambers (parents), Douglas & Larry Chambers (brothers), and Wallace Chambers II (nephew). He is survived by: son, Carl Hasim Chambers (Eileen), wife, Malvinia Chambers (Mamie), daughter, Contessa Latoyia Dorsey (Herbert), and (grandson), Daltray Freelove. Siblings: Jimmie Chambers (Kathryn), Wallace Chambers (Emma), Michael Chambers (Alison), Ronnie Chambers, Deborah Ogbonna, San Blanchett (George), and Mae Gibson. Also, Aunt Margaret, Uncle Charlie (Betty) Stephens, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Carl will be missed, always loved and never forgotten. A funeral service will take place at 2 P.M., Saturday at Florida Mortuary. Family will recieve friends one hour prior to service.
