Joseph Shipley

Obituary of Joseph Shipley

JOSEPH SHIPLEY will be remembered for a long time. He was a SAVED Christian member of Open Door Baptist Church, and talked to the LORD every day. His early life was as a truck driver for many years, but also worked for Anheuser Busch plant here in Tampa until his multiple by-pass heart surgery in 1995 and went on disability. He loved the old car/truck hobby and was active for many years in Tampa Bay Antique Vehicle Assoc. and restoring vehicles. His favorite car was a “peach” ‘51 Ford that was built and customized by Joe.

He just celebrated his 80th birthday Aug. 26, 2019, with daughter, Tammie Oroszi, son, Billy Joe Shipley, and Son in Law, Roger Oroszi, who surprised him coming in from Celina, OH.  But his local family, five area pastors that were close friends, and many other friends came and made him very happy. Joe is also survived by his sister, Maxine Collins of Elletsville, IN and brother, Oscar Shipley, who resides in Kissimmee, FL.

His step-daughter, Doreen Linares, has been very close with Joe over the years and assisted him at the Hospital and HOSPICE.  He even got to spend time with his grandson, Donovan Linares, at Hospice.  He loved them very much.

Joe has suffered with many illnesses, but always seemed to snap back after each crisis and many prayers.   But this time his heart was not able to survive.  He closed his eyes at 8 PM Thurs. Sept. 12, 2019, to be with The Lord in Heaven, while a patient at the Melech Hospice Center in Temple Terrace with Betty, his wife of 17 years, at his side.  He was her soul mate for the past 17 years, and will be in her heart forever.   She is heartbroken.

There will be a Memorial service for JOE on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Open Door Baptist Church, 7405 Harney Road, Tampa, Fl 33637. In lieu of flowers, Joe would request donations be made to the Open Door Baptist Church Building Fund in his memory.
