Obituary of James Ward Boatman

 

On Saturday, January 4, 2020, James Ward “Que” Boatman, loving husband and father, left this world to join our heavenly Father at the age 84. 

James is predeceased by his grand-daughter, Amanda Ward, his eldest daughter, Lena Bolden-Smith (Benjamin), his mother Maggie Bell Boatman, brother, Jimmy Ward, and sisters, Della Mae Boatwright, Jo Anna Humphrey and May Bell Smith.  

James is survived by his loving wife, Alejandra, and his children Charles Ray Pratt (Cynthia), Quedalla Ward (Renetta), JoAnn Williams (Frank), Cynthia Ward, AnnJay Boatman, and Cindy Jo Boatman and beloved sister, Alice B. Harbor.   James is lovingly remembered by his many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. 

James was born in West Memphis, Arkansas on November 16, 1936. He moved to Chicago, IL where he raised his eldest children, owned his own restaurant and worked for many years in physical therapy.  In 1986, James moved with his wife and two youngest daughters to Tampa, FL to be with his mother and sisters.  

He had a passion for life that led him all over this country and eventually across the globe.  He was known for his quick wit, his infectious laugh, and his kind and compassionate spirit.  

The wake will be held on Wednesday, January 15th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Florida Mortuary, located at 4601 North Nebraska Ave, Tampa, FL. 33603.

A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 16th at 10:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, located at 1711 E. 11th Ave, Tampa, FL 33605.  Internment will be in Tranquility at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610.
