Ovey Landry

Obituary of Ovey Charles Landry

Ovey “Buck” Landry, age 51, departed from this world on July 26, 2020 due to illness. He was born on February 3, 1969 in St. Petersburg, Florida to Ernest Roy Landry and Lillie Jean Kelley, both of whom precede Buck in death.

Buck is survived by his daughter Chelsi Yowell with husband Braden Yowell; his son Austin Landry; sister Terri Stairs with husband Bryan Stairs and their six children; brother Adam Landry; and significant other Sherri Barkley.

Buck loved cars and family gatherings. He loved going to restaurant karaoke nights and talking with friends. He loved having a best friend down the street. He loved watching his brother play music and venting on the couch to his sister. Buck loved how intelligent his daughter and son are, both of which he was beaming with pride for. And those close to him know that for a period of time, he loved bike shorts. Probably too much.

To those who love him, Buck was many things.

Buck was a fixer. Both with his hands, and with his heart.

With his hands, he lent his skill to those in need whether it be repairing cars or working on homes. If it were broken, Buck could help us make it whole.

With his heart, he provided masterfully crafted sentiments filled with words that left the reader or listener feeling loved, and proud. If our hearts ever felt broken, Buck could help us make it whole.

Buck was a mountain. Strong in stature and in will. He was an immovable force you wanted in your corner. And like a mountain he was always there, never fleeting, never uncertain, but always steady. Accepting the pressure put on him by others when we could not bear the weight on our own.

Buck was a father. A friend. A brother. A lover.

Without him, those left behind will have to carry on. The road ahead will feel impossible. We may feel a little less than whole, with a little too much weight to carry. But how fortunate we are to have a guardian angel that will undoubtedly be our fixer and our mountain.

Due to the unique circumstances surrounding the health of the public, we will not be having a formal funeral service at this time. The family plans on a celebration of life at a later date. If you would like to send condolences to Buck’s children or family members, contact information can be provided to you by reaching out to Terri Stairs at 813-304-9024 or stairsterri@gmail.com.
