Jean Lee

Obituary of Jean A Lee

Jean A. Lee, 92, passed away on September 29, 2020 in Tampa, FL.
She was born October 21, 1927 in Wilkes Barre, PA.  Jean graduated from Bucknell University with a BA in English.  She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega.

On Sept. 10, 1949, she married W. Warren Lee.  They began their married life in Cuba and Puerto Rico before returning to New Jersey.  Settling in Morris Plains, Warren and Jean raised their four children.  Jean was always involved in school, church, and community activities.  She served as an elder in church, participated in circles and organized fund raisers and Bible Schools.  In the summer you’d find her at Idlewild Pool or taking a group of teenagers to the Jersey Shore.  Jean loved the beach, playing tennis and golf, and gardening. Card games with her children and grandchildren were special for her.  Bridge was a favorite hobby;  both party bridge and duplicate.  This pastime followed her in every move: Morris Plains, Allendale (NJ), Jamestown (NY), Fullerton (CA), and finally to Tampa in 2000.  In every new city she would join the Newcomers Club.  If there wasn’t one, she’d start it up herself.  In Tampa, she went door to door to meet her neighbors and invite them over to their Open House.

Jean’s husband, Warren, passed away in April of this year.  She is survived by her children:  Kathy Rivers (Lee) of Virginia Beach, VA, Richard Lee (Michelle) of Olive Branch, MS, Barbara Daerr (Nick) of Tampa, FL, and Douglas Lee of Fullerton, CA; nine grandchildren:  Kimberly, Christopher, Erin, Kyle, Melissa, Scott, Brian, Alex, and Rachel; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister Shirley Knowlton, of Weston, VT.
