Obituary of Anne Wilson

Mary ANNE Wilson, 86, was called home to our Lord on October 14, 2020. Anne was predeceased by her husband Bernie Wilson of 67 years.   She is survived by her three sons, Kirb (Sara Jane), Matt, and Britt (Lynn),  grandsons Kyle and Phillip;  her brother Ervin Shull of Oklahoma, nieces Tempe (Dan) Perreira and Tonya (Kirt) Curell; great nieces Laurel and Holly (Julio); great nephews Daniel, Eric (Alexa), Wade (Nicole) Davis, and Brant Davis; and great, great niece, Aubree.

Anne was born in Ringling, Oklahoma to Louis and Nan Shull on September 6, 1934.  She graduated from Oklahoma State University and married her beloved Bernie before moving to Tampa in 1956. Early in her career, Anne worked as a retail manager, textile buyer, and public school teacher before taking time off to raise her three sons.  Anne was involved in a variety of charities and earned a master’s degree at Florida State University. She returned to the work force as Dean of the International Academy of Merchandising and Design from which she retired after 13 years.

Anne was a talented seamstress, cook, and organizer.  She enjoyed skiing, tennis, and playing cards. In retirement, she like traveling the world with Bernie and friends.  As a devout Christian, Anne loved the Lord and was an active member of the First Baptist Church Tampa.  Family and friends meant everything to Anne, and she meant the world to those of us blessed to know her.  To her sons, she was simply, “Best Mom Ever”.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, October 19, at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church Tampa located at 302 West Kennedy Boulevard in Tampa. The service will also be streamed live at the church website at www.FBCTampa.org.  Visitors will be received in the sanctuary from 10:00 to 10:30 AM.  Anne will lay at rest at Florida National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Tampa.
