DeEtta Boganey

Obituary of DeEtta Rae Boganey

DeEtta Rae Boganey in many ways was a force of will, determination and a loving and loyal friend, mother, sibling and daughter. Ambitious and feisty, her personality was as big as her heart for giving to those she cherished, people that she came across in need, and especially those that she adopted as family. Having a love for experiencing different places DeEtta didn’t mind setting roots down for a time – from Parsons Kansas, to the Bay Area in California, time spent in Portland, Oregon to creating her family home in Commerce City, Colorado. She gained success in her profession where work led her to visit and live in several cities where she had a lasting impact to everyone she met along the way. She loved life and everyone she embraced, she worked hard and wanted the best for herself and the people she loved.

DeEtta Rae Boganey, was born February 13, 1967 in Parsons, Kansas. Daughter to DeAuthor and Clarence Etta Pierce. DeEtta relocated to California at a young age and lived in Oakland, CA for 17 years where she gained valuable skills and trained for a career in Project Management from the University of California, Berkeley, and was an active member at Acts Full Gospel Church in Oakland CA.  In 2005 DeEtta purchased her dream home in Commerce City, Co where she aspired to design in her sophisticated style with all the elements that she cherished. During the course of her career various projects led her to settle for a season in Portland, Oregon where she met and made many friendships that were dear to her, where she was also active with her church family at Emmanuel Church. Most of all DeEtta had a focus on her family, her sons Eral Boganey Jr., Eli Pierce, daughters Natalie Johnson, Ronnita Thomas, and Daughter-in-Law Morgann Boganey. She was known as Gan-Gan to her beloved grandchildren: Granddaughters,  Malayah, DeVonnie, & Nai’a, and Grandsons Ziggy & Zion. Along with caring for family DeEtta enjoyed traveling and riding her motorcycle together with Robert.

DeEtta transitioned on December 20, 2020, and is survived by parents Clarence Etta and Bill Williams, Special Friend & Partner, Robert H. Holden II. Siblings, Ronnie D. Pierce Sister-in-Law Imelda Pierce, Marcia E. Martin, Byron L. Martin, Ernie E. Hickerson, Bobby D. Hickerson Sr. and Demone R. Bell, and a host of Nieces, Nephews and beloved Friends.
