Mozella Dixon

Obituary of Mozella Dixon

Mozella Ann Dixon was born April 7th, 1950, in Conway, SC to Rosa Lee Thompson-Griffin and Louis Deas. At the age of 7, Mozella moved to Rochester, New York with her mother, stepfather, “Daddy” Charlie Griffin, and her sister. There she would attend elementary and post-secondary schools in the Rochester City School District and graduated from East High School. In her teen years, Mozella accepted Jesus as her Lord & Savior and was baptized at The Church of Christ.

In 1977, Mozella married the love of her life, Andrew Dixon and from this union, her youngest child, Tiffany Marie was born. In 1990, they relocated to Tampa, Florida where she pursued a career as a sales representative in Life Insurance & Customer Service. She continued to carry Christ in her heart and exemplified Him in her daily walk as she served her community through volunteering and providing to the homeless and those in need. Mozella was the essence of a true giver and never met a stranger. She enjoyed meeting new people and greeted everyone with a hug and a smile, always willing to celebrate with and support you in any way she could.

Mozella’s greatest accomplishment was becoming a mother and raising her children in a way that they knew they could ALWAYS count on ‘Mommy’. She sacrificed to ensure that her children always knew she would be there and supported every milestone of their lives. She felt immensely blessed and relished in being a granny. She also enjoyed a close relationship with her sisters, whom she shared a precious bond with.

Mozella was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Lee Griffin; her birth father, Louis Deas; her stepfather, Charlie Griffin; and nephew George Breedlove.
