Janice L. Parnell, a loving, caring soul and lifelong resident of Tampa, FL, passed away peacefully on October 28,2021. Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Florida Mortuary Services in Tampa, FL.
On March 29, 1944, Janice was born in Rockingham, NC, to the late J.P. and Lillian Leviner. She was a 1962 graduate of Olympia High School in Columbia, SC. She worked in the retail industry for over 40 years. Janice was an avid supporter of public television, the arts, theater, and music. She enjoyed attending Celtic Thunder and Celtic Women concerts as well as the opera singer Luciano Pavarotti.
She eternally joined her life partner John Oumrt. She was preceded in death by her sister Patricia L. Register and brother John P. Leviner. She is survived by brothers James Leviner, Larry Leviner (Glenda), Wayne Leviner (Mrytle), Richard Leviner (Cindy), Scott Leviner (Angie), and sisters Nancy Cook (Jim) and Etta Kay Hites (Paul). She was a surrogate mother to Melissa Thomberlin (Gordon) as well as a surrogate grandmother to Darrell Posey (Julia), Kyle Thomberlin and fiancé Megan, and Victoria Stalnaker (Zack).
She is loved immensely by 5 surrogate great-grandchildren, 5 nieces, 11 nephews, 5 great-nieces, 16 great-nephews, and 6 great-great nieces. In addition, she has close friends she cherishes. Janice touched many lives with her humor, generosity, and passion for life. She leaves behind a large extended family and circle of friends who have been forever touched by her strength and love.
