To Ed and your family:
I’m so sorry for your loss.
I met Mary Rose when I was about 8 years old, when her sister Carolyn married my uncle Nathan.
She was always so sweet and kind.
I will always remember how each time I saw her she had hair done and looked so pretty.
Prayers for God’s comfort and peace for your family!

My deepest condolences to the entire Riley family. I have known Maryrose for 63 of my 66 years. My mother and I moved down from Tennessee to Tampa in 1959 and Maryrose was my mother's first friend here. They worked together at Dog n Suds for many years together and started their lifelong "Thelma and Louise" story. When I was small and my grandmother took me to Dog n Suds to visit mom & Maryrose, I would always run to Maryrose and say this same thing....."Maryrose, will you get me a hamburger with mayonnaise"? This became a lifelong running joke with me and Mary throughout my life and in June, I served her a hamburger with mayonnaise at my daughter's baby shower.
My mom, Ludie loved this woman!! SHE DID NOT GO A DAY WITHOUT TALKING TO MARYROSE ON THE TELEPHONE AT LEAST ONCE. Many days, it was like 2 - 3 times a day....we used to say that the phones were attached to their ears and connected then to each other. Mom and Maryrose clothes shopped together, ran errands together, vacationed together, bought the same jewelry together, attended the same beauty and nail shop for almost 25 years together....you name it and they did it together.
I can't remember an event in my life that Maryrose wasn't there or a part of. She was there all during my childhood days of which I remember many times playing with her daughters, Sandy and Lisa. She attended my graduation, my wedding, was there at the hospital for the birth of both my children, she and Mom threw me a great 25th wedding anniversary party, she attended my daughter's baby shower and then she met my beautiful granddaughter, Madi Bell in December. I'm so happy that Maryrose got to do that as I'm so sad that my Mom passed away before Madi was born.
I know when my mother passed away in 2016, Maryrose's heart was broken. She lost her very best friend in the world and grieved for her until the day she passed, too. I know in my heart that heaven has some fun going on up there today because Ludie & Maryrose...aka "Thelma & Louise" are back together again.
I will miss you, beautiful and sweet lady. I feel like I've lost two moms in my lifetime. Until we meet again, have fun up there and I hope there's plenty of "hamburgers with mayonnaise" for you and Mama!
