Wanda McLaren

Obituary of Wanda Gayle McLaren

Wanda Gayle McLaren,  age 60

With laughter that could fill a room, Wanda lived with a zest for life. Having never met a stranger, she made everyone feel welcome and part of her family. This was true if it was her own sons, Robert, Sean, Patrick or her stepchildren, Heather, Jennifer, and Laurin. Also, anyone who knew her, heard her brag constantly about her grandson Caiden. In fact, everyone who met Wanda witnessed her million-dollar smile and infectious laughter.

Born with a passion for singing, Disney, and cross stitching, Wanda was a lifelong resident of Tampa Florida. She embraced the role of family historian organizing family events and tracing genealogies. She was also a vital and active member of Oak Grove UMC, and dedicated a great deal of her time as a servant of the church. Her volunteerism was unmatched in her community.

She leaves behind her mother, Sara G. Pickens as she continues to be there for her family. Wanda has said that she was lucky to have had the best Mother in the world, and credited her as her most influential role model.

Wanda's deep love of Jesus led her to a life characterized by the importance of grace, forgiveness, serving others, as well as her deep love for her husband Robert (Bob). She is preceded in death by her husband Robert, her father Neal and her brothers, Tim, Randy, Steve. As far as Family reunions go, I'm sure the one that happened on June 8, 2022 was extraordinary and filled with laughter, joy and peace.

The Celebration of life will be held at her lifelong church home of Oak Grove UMC located at 2707 W. Waters Ave Tampa, Fl 33614 on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 1030am. At a future date, Wanda's earthly remains will be interned at a private ceremony at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Tampa, FL. In lieu of flowers memorial donationa may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
