Larry Nutter

Obituary of Larry Wayne Nutter

Larry Wayne Nutter, born at home in Quinwood, West Virginia on June 29, 1943, sadly left us on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 79 years of age. He graduated from Nicholas County High School and studied at Columbia College. He was everyone’s friend and never met a stranger. He loved occupying his time with so may hobbies and interests; fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, traveling, NASCAR, football, VW stock car racing, cooking, sightseeing, and everything else there is to do.

He was a proud career Army veteran and served two tours in Viet Nam with the Postal Corps. He remained stoic yet kind about his experience there and smiled every day. After retiring, he succeeded in selling Toyotas (he was a car guy) then went on to work for the Virginia Department of Corrections as a Deputy Sheriff and served his community proudly and made many lifelong friends.

His wife, Inge C. Nutter passed away in 2016. He is survived by his daughter, Suanne Nutter (Powell Townsend), a sister Janet Matheny and a brother Randy Nutter. He married Rebecca Young Legg of West Virginia in 2022 and they enjoyed many joyous times together. He leaves behind an incredible group of friends and family that loved him and speak very highly of his kind and open heart, and his willingness to help anyone. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at FamCamp MacDill AFB RV Park, Building 2017 at 1:00 p.m.  Allowances made for attendees at the gate through pastor Bernie.
