Obituary of Travis Owen Dent

Travis Owen Dent, 43, passed away on January 27, 2019, at St Joseph’s Hospital after a month-long battle with the flu. He is survived by his mother, Terrie Howard (Steve); father, Frank Dent (Geraldine); brothers, Todd Dent, Brian Howard, Jason Howard, and Brian Tilley; Candy Mitchell; nieces, Leila Dent, Tiffany Howard and Jaime Howard; and nephews, Jeffrey Howard and Jeremie Howard; as well as many loving aunts & uncles. Travis graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. In addition to earning a college degree, he surprised his family by teaching himself how to play the piano, harmonica, and the steel drums. His love of music led to professional work with numerous bands and individual gigs. While a member of the Bender Band, they produced a CD, and he played in both East and West coast tours performing in prestigious venues like the House of Blues, and opening for nationally recognized artists. Travis was most recently employed with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. Travis was an avid sportsman both as a participant and fan. He could cook with the best, always including something from his garden. Travis will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a future date.
