Zilia Garcia

Obituary of Zilia V. Garcia

Zilia de la Caridad Garcia-Viera, 91 1/2 years young, passed away September 13, 2007. Mom was a gourmet cook, green-thumb gardener, talented pianist, master seamstress, "perfect hostess", and loving wife and mother. After a protracted illness, The Lord was kind and merciful (as she had been in her life) by providing a relatively quick and painless passing. Always a God-Loving person, she was active in the Methodist Church. She served in The Women's Society and many other volunteer associations. Despite episodes of forgetfullness in her last year, she retained an uncanny savant-like ability to recite lengthy poems and author's writings learned in youth, to the amazement of many. As a young adult, she was a model and teacher. After bearing 5 children, Ivonne, Alex, Vivian, Leonard & Anne Marie, she was the sweet voice of temperance and charity which perfectly complemented my congressman father's calm, but executive style, in their years of property management. Her father, Mariano, was a well-liked police captain. Her mother, Angelica, was a telephone company manager in the early days of telephone. Her brother, Mario Viera, was well-known broadcaster and producer. A younger sister, Carmen, was also well-loved and a talented amateur artist. The youngest of the 3 "Golden Girls", sister Hilda survives at this writing, with an indomitable spirit formed by years of active participation in sports and popular business ownership. Mother Zilia is survived by her son, Leonard (who took care of her at home in her latter years), sister, Hilda Fernandez; daughters, Ivonne (Rafaela), Vivian and Anne-Marie; grandchildren, Aristides (Ari), Alex, Ivonne; great-grandchild, Johannes. Also survived by the evolved nieces and nephew, Maritza Mendez, George Rodriguez, Mario and Hector Viera. WE LOVE YOU MOM. THANK YOU FOR GIVING US LIFE. AND THANK GOD FOR GIVING YOU EVERLASTING LIFE. Amen. And see you later. If you're here reading, whether family or friend, why not sign her guestbook? After all, it's only thru her that I got a chance to have the honor to meet you. hn glover death datepsychology and lung cancer
